Senior Data Engineering Consultant

As a Senior Data Engineering Consultant at BigData Republic, you advise leading organizations in the Netherlands on complex data issues. You combine hands-on engineering with an advisory role: you write production-ready code, contribute to strategic business decisions, and guide colleagues to grow to a higher level.

You have built your career around designing and building data systems. You enjoy contributing substantively, but never lose sight of quality, scalability, and sustainability. You are an experienced Data Engineer who is often difficult to fit into one job description because you make an impact on multiple levels. And you are ready for a new challenge.

At BigData Republic, we develop data applications, build data platforms, create predictive models, and design robust data infrastructures. We work with a software engineering mindset, with a focus on high technical quality.

You will work on complex projects for large clients in diverse sectors, while being part of a small, informal, and close-knit team of peers who challenge and inspire each other. In practice, you spend approximately 90% of your time on client projects. The remaining time is explicitly reserved for your own initiatives: a pet project, innovation, or an idea you want to develop with colleagues.

You are a good fit for this role if you have experience with (some of) the tooling and concepts below:

You have a strong foundation in;

• Python

• Cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure)

• Building and maintaining data pipelines (ELT/ ETL)

• Data warehousing (Databricks, Snowflake or BigQuery)

• Orchestration (Airflow, Dagster)

• Terraform, CI/ CD

Plus points, but not a requirement:

• Streaming (Kafka, Spark, Flink)

• DevOps (Kubernetes)

• Data Governance and management (e.g., dbt)

• Experience with AI and/or ML infrastructure (feature stores, vector databases, ML pipelines)
  

You don't have to master everything. We value curiosity, eagerness to learn, and technical depth more than a perfect checklist.

• Salary between €5,500 and €6,700 gross per month (based on 40 hours), depending on knowledge, experience, and seniority
