As a BigQuery Data Engineer at Ocado Technology, you will play a crucial role in managing BigQuery data at all stages of the lifecycle, identifying inefficiencies and waste, and optimising the utilisation of BigQuery resources across the organisation. Additionally, Responsibilities: • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable and efficient data pipelines using BigQuery and other relevant technologies. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritise business requirements for data engineering projects. • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the organisation's data architecture and ensure alignment with business objectives. • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide recommendations on how to meet those needs using BigQuery. • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency through process improvements and technology enhancements. • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the organisation's data architecture and ensure alignment with business objectives. • Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement data governance policies and procedures. • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and apply this knowledge to improve processes and solutions. Requirements: • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role. • Strong understanding of BigQuery, including its architecture, features, and best practices. • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing and analytics platforms. • Proficiency in SQL and ability to write complex queries. • Familiarity with Java and Python programming languages is desirable but not essential. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. • Experience working in an Agile environment is desirable.
