We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (m/w/d), who will contribute to a large project that focuses on network monitoring and control in the energy sector. The role includes developing a modular system that replaces monolithic SCADA applications with modern modules running in Kubernetes clusters and exchanging data via streaming services.

Your Tasks

• Development of data pipelines (e.g., ETL jobs)

• Development of interfaces to provide data to other services.

• Database development and maintenance

• Design of data models for multiple technology paradigms, including graph models, schema-less models, and relational models.

• Development, maintenance, and use of deployment pipelines according to IaC paradigms.

• Creation of clean, efficient code based on specifications and guidelines.

• Self-directed immersion in the assigned software development path and handling incidents.

• Coordination with colleagues in assigned projects regarding architecture, SCRUM products, and data architecture.

• Development of intuitive software that meets the company's requirements and ensures a proper handover to project management.

• Professional maintenance of all software components, including regular updates, to address business needs.

• Analysis and testing of programs and products before publication.

• Integration of master data for the modular control center system from legacy systems.

• Activation of automatic and manual data configuration.

Must Requirements

• Several years of experience in software development with Python, SQL, and RegEx

• Knowledge of developing and productive use of data models in the energy sector, ideally at a network operator

• Relevant experience in the field of master data management for SCADA/EMS systems or in the network operator environment

• Extensive practical experience with ELT/ETL frameworks

• Secure German language skills on C1 level

Can Requirements

• Experience with the Common Information Model (CIM), the Common Grid Model Exchange Standard (CGMES) and UCTE data formats

• Experience with CI/CD and deployment in a Kubernetes environment using Azure and Docker containers

• Knowledge of streaming architectures and technologies like Apache Kafka

• Familiarity with tools for linting, formatting or static type checking

• Safe handling of common data formats and protocols like JSON, XML, CSV, and REST APIs

• Fluent English language skills on B2 level

The place of fulfillment is in Berlin, with a distribution of 90 % remote work and 10 % on-site presence required.
