Senior Data Engineer

Job Overview: The Data Engineer I is a critical member of the Data Modernization & Integration organization. This experienced developer will be responsible for leading a high performing team responsible for designing, building, and modernizing the ingestion, integration, and API services that power LPL’s cloud data ecosystem. This role drives the transformation of legacy data feeds into scalable, governed, cloud-native pipelines and helps define the engineering standards that support LPL’s federal compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data processing systems, as well as expertise in cloud-based technologies such as AWS or Azure. Additionally, this role requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: • Designing, building, and deploying scalable, governed, cloud-native pipelines for ingesting, integrating, and processing large-scale data sets. • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define engineering standards that support LPL’s federal compliance requirements. • Leading a high-performing team of engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data processing systems. • Developing and implementing data quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data feeds. • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and cloud computing. • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on the team. • Participating in regular code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards. • Collaborating with other teams to identify and prioritize technical debt and implementing solutions to address it. • Developing and maintaining documentation for data pipelines, APIs, and other technical components. • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing changes as needed. • Providing input on the development of the organization’s technical roadmap and strategic planning. • Participating in regular meetings with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and identify potential roadblocks. • Collaborating with other teams to develop and implement data governance policies and procedures. • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, product owners, and other technical teams. • Providing input on the development of the organization’s technical roadmap and strategic planning. • Participating in regular meetings with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and identify potential roadblocks.
