The role

As a Senior Data Analyst at Vector, you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming how we use data to power a smarter, more resilient energy future for Tāmaki Makaurau. You’ll join a team that is resetting, re-energising and lifting capability, bringing fresh thinking, modern practices and a genuine passion for doing things differently.

Working across high-frequency energy, IoT and customer datasets, you’ll uncover insights that improve network performance, anticipate issues before they occur, and enhance customer experiences. From enabling pre-emptive maintenance on critical assets to supporting new AI-driven models, your work will influence how we keep the lights on for Auckland.

On a typical week you can expect to:

• Deliver high-quality, accurate and meaningful analysis using modern data platforms including Snowflake and new data models.
• Build intuitive dashboards and visualisations (Power BI highly advantageous) that help non-technical stakeholders make confident, data-driven decisions.
• Partner with teams across the business—including network, regulatory, customer, field operations and digital—to understand challenges and translate them into analytical opportunities.
• Bring natural curiosity and a proactive mindset to explore new methodologies, perspectives and insights.
• Contribute to a collaborative team culture focused on learning and continuous improvement, providing mentorship to uplift analytics capability.
• Support innovation through AI-enabled models, new data integrations, and partnerships including work with Google X and Tapestry.

Who are we looking for?

You’re an experienced analyst who blends technical depth with curiosity and the ability to turn complex information into actionable insight. You communicate clearly, collaborate well and care about work that drives real outcomes.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Have strong SQL capability, with Python as a bonus.
• Bring experience in reporting, dashboards and visualisations that drive action across diverse stakeholders.
• Are passionate about applying analytics to real operational and customer-focused challenges.
• Are naturally inquisitive, always seeking new approaches, new insights and new value.
• Enjoy working in a modern cloud-based data environment with evolving data models, AI opportunities and emerging technologies.
• Communicate with confidence and clarity, especially with non-technical audiences.
• Are collaborative, team-oriented and keen to support and mentor others as capability grows.
