The Ideal Candidate The role of Senior Data Analyst is part of the Non-Life department and contributes to the development of the data platform and analytical models that support the group's general insurance companies — from data modeling and KPI catalogs to reports for business, actuarial, and controlling. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will work on the group's modern data platform (Databricks Lakehouse / Microsoft Fabric), building robust data models, governed datasets, and indicators that form the basis for technical and financial decisions in the general insurance area. Requirements Experience in insurance & data (non-life) Relevant experience in the general insurance (non-life) industry, preferably in data, actuarial, or controlling Knowledge of general insurance products and specific processes: underwriting, pricing, policy issuance, claims, reserves, reinsurance Understanding of technical and financial indicators: gross written premium (GWP), earned written premium (EWP), loss ratio, expense ratio, combined ratio, reserves (RBNS, IBNR) Familiarity with reporting to ASF and with Solvency II and IFRS 17 frameworks Experience collaborating with actuarial, controlling, or finance teams is a significant advantage Data modeling & Databricks Solid experience in data modeling (dimensional / star schema, Data Vault, or equivalent) for reporting and analysis Hands-on experience with the Databricks platform (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, notebooks, SQL Warehouses) Very good SQL knowledge and experience with data processing languages (PySpark, Python) Understanding of Lakehouse architectures and the medallion model (bronze / silver / gold) Experience with ETL/ELT processes and integrating data from multiple sources (insurance core systems, DWH, files) Familiarity with the Azure ecosystem (Azure SQL, Data Lake, Microsoft Fabric / OneLake) is an advantage Experience with visualization tools (Power BI) for delivering reports to the business What we appreciate additionally: Experience with insurance core systems (e.g., INSIS) and integrating data from them Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and metadata management (data catalog, data lineage) Databricks (Data Engineer / Data Analyst) or Azure Data certifications are an advantage Interest in AI and automation of analytical processes Job Description Responsibilities: Design and develop data models for general insurance on the Databricks Lakehouse platform Build and maintain KPI catalogs and gold layers for reporting (technical, financial, actuarial) Transform business, actuarial, and controlling requirements into clear and documented models and datasets Develop ETL/ELT pipelines for integrating data from core systems and data warehouse Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance (Unity Catalog, data lineage, documentation) Collaborate with actuarial, controlling, business, and IT teams to deliver analytical solutions Support the development of a data model standard at the VIG group level in Romania Contribute to automation initiatives and the adoption of AI tools in data analysis What we offer: Participation in strategic data and digital transformation projects in the insurance industry Exposure to a modern data platform (Databricks Lakehouse, Microsoft Fabric) and AI initiatives Competitive salary package, commensurate with experience and professional level Hybrid work program and flexibility Central office and stable, professional, and collaborative work environment Access to specialized training, certifications, and conferences Multidisciplinary team and the opportunity to contribute to projects with group-level visibility Company Description The diversity of our people plays a major role in our success.
