Job description
A well-established brokerage in Christchurch is expanding and looking for a Senior Commercial Broker who wants more than just servicing renewals. This is an opportunity to step into a role where client strategy, relationship building, and business development are genuinely valued.
Our client is a no nonsense, ego free, and highly collaborative business. You will join a high performing team and take ownership of a diverse mid market commercial portfolio, with a clear expectation to identify opportunities to grow and strengthen the book. This role requires a candidate who is well established in the market with strong networks, or who brings significant experience managing complex commercial risks.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and develop an existing commercial insurance portfolio
• Provide strategic risk advice and tailored insurance solutions
• Identify and secure new business opportunities across the Canterbury market
• Oversee renewals, endorsements, and insurer negotiations
• Build strong relationships with underwriters and industry partners
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal requirements
About You
You will bring proven commercial broking experience and strong technical knowledge across multiple product classes. You will have a strong knowledge of the market and you are confident engaging with business owners, understand how to uncover risk exposures, and enjoy delivering practical solutions. Strong communication skills, negotiation ability, and attention to detail are essential.
Level 5 Financial Services qualification or equivalent is essential.
