About the Role and the Team

Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) is a Business Unit of nearly 200 people that continues to strengthen to support Decathlon's tech ambitions. Our main objective is to streamline the technical product catalog and provide turnkey services for IT teams, enabling them to focus on developing features with high application impact.

Within CPE, you will join the Cloud Foundation team, composed of passionate engineers. Our mission is crucial: to provide a robust, scalable, and secure Cloud platform allowing product teams to deploy their applications autonomously, quickly, and reliably.

We are passionate about Cloud, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps/SRE culture, automation, technological foresight... and of course, sports!

Scope and Missions of a Senior CloudOps Engineer

As a Senior Cloud Ops Engineer, you will have a role of technical expert and transversal referent. Your missions will revolve around the following pillars:

1. Cloud Organization & Scalable Architecture

• Manage, secure, and evolve the global governance of the group's 2 main Cloud providers: GCP and AWS.
• Mastery of Cloud organization management (Organization policies, deny, …).
• Design innovative, resilient, and secure Cloud-native architectures, integrating DevSecOps best practices.
• Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.

2. Engineering, Tooling & Infrastructure as Code

• Industrialize and deploy our infrastructures at scale with Terraform.
• Code and develop internal applications, APIs, and orchestration tools in Python, applying software engineering best practices.
• Design automated solutions and consume Serverless-oriented services (Cloud Functions, Lambda).

3. SRE Culture, Observability & FinOps

• Define, monitor, and steer the platform's reliability indicators: SLO, SLI, and MTTR.
• Follow a FinOps approach to optimize financial efficiency and Cloud resource utilization.
• Conduct root cause analysis during major incidents and structure preventive measures.

4. Technical Leadership, Security & Support

• Raise awareness among teams about good Cloud practices, write reference documentation, and train the group's technical teams.
• Collaborate closely with SecOps teams for access management, alert handling, and strengthening compliance processes.
• Mentor engineers within the team and disseminate technical expertise within communities.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in using Cloud concepts and managing multi-cloud organizations, with recognized expertise in GCP or AWS.
• Mandatory Certification: Professional level Cloud Certification (GCP Professional Cloud Architect or AWS Professional Solutions Architect).
• IaC & Dev Expertise: Advanced mastery of Terraform, scripting/development (Python, Bash), and Serverless architectures.
• SRE & DevSecOps Practices: Good understanding of FinOps challenges, observability (Opentelemetry, Datadog…), and network/security architectures.
• Soft Skills & Leadership: Curiosity, Teamwork, innovation capacity, excellent interpersonal skills, client/user satisfaction-oriented posture, ability to simplify complex subjects.
• Languages: Fluent English, both spoken and written, C1 level.
• A Plus: Knowledge of a European/sovereign Cloud provider.
