To strengthen our tech team, we are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) as soon as possible.

In this central position, you will be largely responsible for the technological design and further development of our shipping platforms.

• Cloud Architecture & Networks: You will design, manage, and scale our cloud infrastructure. This includes sound network management (VPCs, routing, DNS, load balancing) as well as secure and highly available connectivity for our locations.

• Operation of Core Applications: You will bear the infrastructural responsibility (deployment, hosting optimization, performance tuning) for our business-critical systems - primarily for a complex Java application and an extensive PHP project.

• Monitoring & Observability: You will ensure comprehensive system monitoring. You will design, implement, and expand our monitoring setup (e.g., with Grafana) and establish precise alerting for proactive error detection and resolution.

• Technology Evaluation & Scaling: With a current focus on AWS, you will optimize our systems for high availability (e.g., integration of Redis for session caching, ensuring stable WebSocket connections), always keeping a cloud-agnostic architecture in mind.

• Security & Best Practices: You will evaluate and implement modern, cloud-native solutions to modernize our current secret management and establish industry-standard IT security standards in our infrastructure processes.

• Process Stability & CI/CD: You will develop and maintain highly automated CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployments. You will ensure that interrupted processes are reliably resumed through automated recovery mechanisms.

You are characterized by a methodical, structured, and highly self-reliant way of working and have sound, several years of professional experience in an administrative cloud environment (e.g., as a Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer, or DevOps Engineer).

With your friendly demeanor and strong communication skills, you act confidently as an interface between different stakeholders and function as a valued internal consultant on all infrastructure topics. You think holistically and always keep a watchful eye on compliance requirements and the highest standards in data security.

• Linux Administration: Solid, practically proven experience in the administration and troubleshooting of Linux-based systems.

• Network Expertise: A deep understanding of modern network architectures and protocols (routing, firewalls, VPNs, cloud networking).

• PHP & Java Ecosystem: Demonstrable experience in the performant and secure operation of large applications and the setup of corresponding CI/CD pipelines. An architectural understanding of the specific requirements of both ecosystems (JVM/Application Server for Java and Webserver/PHP-FPM for PHP) is of great advantage.

• Cloud & Containers: Sound practical knowledge with at least one major cloud provider (preferably AWS, alternatively Google Cloud or Azure) as well as confident handling of Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and container technologies (Docker).

• Monitoring Know-how: Experience in building and maintaining modern logging and monitoring stacks (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack, or comparable tools).

• AI-Supported Workflows: A pragmatic view of AI-supported workflows in development. You know the potentials but also critically assess aspects like IT security and code quality realistically.

• Very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken
