In this way, you and your team will be busy building the right assortment, ensuring operational excellence, managing partnerships with our suppliers, and continuously improving customer satisfaction and profitability.

Your success as a Category Manager will depend on combining these insights with your in-depth knowledge of the fruit & vegetable market and your strong supplier network to achieve truly commercial results. 

The art of the trade

• Category Insight: Build and develop a deep understanding ofyour fresh-category through a combination ofPicnic-data,market data,customer insights, and supplier input. 
• Supply Chain Optimization: Understand the end-to-endsupply chain and discover opportunities to improve the assortment, product quality, and profitability. 
• Fresh Top Quality: Ensure consistent product quality, availability, andseasonal variation throughout the chain. Anticipate challenges such as fluctuations in availability, quality & price of raw materials, import/export restrictions, and price fluctuations. 
• Supplier Negotiations: Manage various stakeholders, including design teams and thesupply chain, and conduct negotiations with suppliers from initial contact to signed contract. 
• Supplier Relationships: Build strong relationships with various suppliers, ensure smooth daily operations, and resolve operational challenges. 
• Category Improvements: Identify trends and innovations in the market, from local sourcing to sustainable improvements, and translate them into business opportunities. 
• Operational Optimization: Work closely with supply chain, quality, and design teams to improve assortment, packaging, shelf life, and profitability. 
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with analysts, designers, and supply chain experts to deliver fresh products that our customers love. 

Your superpowers

• Master's degree with experience in analytical problem-solving.
• 2-5 years of work experience, preferably as acategory manager and/or buyer in a commercial role, preferably within fresh
• Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to close competitive deals while building sustainable supplier relationships
• Perseverance and enthusiasm to successfully complete projects
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Hands-on mentality with fast problem-solving in daily operations
• Genuine passion for fresh products and the dynamics of the fresh sector
• Fluent in English
