Senior Business Analyst

The Company

Well-established financial services organisation is kicking off a stream of work focused on financial calculations, reporting logic and product behaviour. They're looking for a hands-on Senior Business Analyst who's comfortable getting close to the numbers and collaborating directly with Finance, Product, Technology and auditors.

The Role

This company is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to take ownership of a confidential, high-priority project involving complex system analysis and financial data investigation.
This role requires someone who can make sense of ambiguity, and drive outcomes without needing handholding. It's not a "write user stories and sit back" environment and not a documentation-only role, this is hands-on analysis, problem solving and resolving complex calculation logic within financial systems.

What you'll be doing

• Diving into complex system logic to understand how financial outputs are generated
• Analysing detailed financial data, variances, and calculation pathways
• Working directly with Finance, Technology and SMEs to identify gaps, defects, or logic issues
• Distilling findings into clear insights and next steps
• Providing recommendations for remediation, system updates or business rule changes
• Owning your workstream end-to-end - no spoon-feeding, no layers of governance slowing you down

Your Profile

• Senior-level BA experience ideally in financial services, lending, banking or credit environments.
• Strong system + financial analysis background - able to break down complex calculations and logic flows
• Comfortable analysing data
• Proven experience working with Finance teams on complex reconciliation or financial model behaviour
• Self-driven, able to work with minimal direction and create structure where there isn't any
• Pragmatic communicator - able to translate technical/system detail into clear business insight

Contract Details

• Initial Term: 6 - 9 months
• Start: ASAP
• Location: Auckland
• Rate: Competitive rate (depending on experience)
