Senior Bookkeeper
Job description
A values-led UK-based property and social impact organisation is seeking an experienced Srnior Bookkeeper to oversee multi-entity bookkeeping operations across its growing housing group. This role is vital to ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making in a mission-driven business providing both temporary and long-term accommodation solutions.
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you’ll lead the day-to-day finance function, optimise systems like Xero and ApprovalMax, and collaborate closely with leadership to maintain clean financial data and reporting. If you're a Xero-certified professional with a deep understanding of intercompany finance, automation tools, and UK compliance — this role offers meaningful work within a supportive remote team.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management- Lead weekly bookkeeping processes across multiple entities
- Oversee client invoicing, credit control, and supplier payments
- Manage bank reconciliations and ensure up-to-date cash flow data
- Maintain accurate intercompany accounts and deferred income records
- Track rental income and costs, ensuring correct allocations across properties
- Respond to finance-related queries via shared inboxes
- Optimise and maintain workflows in Xero, Dext, ApprovalMax, and Telleroo
- Manage user access, system permissions, and integration integrity
- Drive automation and system improvements to streamline financial processes
- Collaborate with operations and tech teams to align financial and property systems
- Prepare weekly finance dashboards: cash position, debtors, and payables
- Lead preparation for monthly finance reviews with leadership
- Support quarterly UK VAT submissions and compliance
- Ensure accurate record-keeping aligned with UK financial regulations
- Xero Certified Advisor with up-to-date certification
- Minimum 3–5 years of senior-level bookkeeping experience
- Proven experience managing multi-entity finance
- In-depth knowledge of intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Solid understanding of UK VAT requirements and submission timelines
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and system thinking
- Access to a reliable laptop/PC and stable internet connection
- Experience with workflow automation and financial integrations
- Comfort working in a remote, collaborative team environment
- Experience with visual reporting tools or dashboard creation
