For this, we are looking for a Senior Accountant who combines profound accounting expertise with genuine enthusiasm for agentic workflows and will build structures, processes, and controls for scalable Finance with us. Initially, you will be responsible for the operative daily business in close cooperation with our three-person Finance team. In the medium term, your focus will shift from booking to orchestrating: AI agents will handle document processing, accounting, and reconciliations, you will define the rules, monitor the results, and be responsible for quality and compliance as the human in the loop. In the medium term, you will shape our path to an AI-native Accounting and ERP setup with us and become the central point of contact for all accounting questions at Apaleo.

Here's how you contribute:

• You will independently process all business transactions arising in financial accounting (invoice control, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, and bank accounting) and ensure an audit-proof, GoBD-compliant data basis for reporting and controlling at all times.  
• Together with our team, you will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to HGB with fixed deadlines and will drive a faster, increasingly automated close (Fast Close).  
• You will conceptualize and implement agentic workflows for recurring processes such as document entry, accounting, bank reconciliation, provisions, and intercompany accounting, thereby shaping how your own role evolves over time: away from manual booking, towards orchestrating, monitoring, and approving the work of AI agents. 
• You will work closely with external tax advisors and auditors.  
• You will help shape how our Finance tech stack evolves into an AI-native Accounting and ERP setup in the medium term: from tool selection and data model to clean master data and interfaces, to scalable end-to-end processes that grow with us.  
• Over time, you will become the central point of contact for all accounting questions at Apaleo and bring the experience and overview to contextualize topics beyond your own area. 

What you bring with you:

Must-haves

• Completed training/further education as a Certified Accountant (IHK) or a comparable qualification, with several years of practical experience in financial accounting.  
• Very good knowledge of German Commercial Law (HGB); IFRS knowledge is an advantage.  
• Very good DATEV and Excel skills, as well as a strong understanding of processes and systems: you think in data flows, not in individual bookings.  
• Experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under real time and deadline pressure within a company. 
• Near-native German (for communication with tax advisors, auditors, and authorities, as well as for statutory reports) and good working English (for collaboration with Legal and other international stakeholders).  
• Structured, independent, and proactive working style; you address ambiguities directly instead of letting them accumulate.  
• You are in our Munich office at least twice a week; ideally, you already live in Munich or the surrounding area.  
• You are comfortable with process ambiguity and rapid change, make pragmatic 80/20 decisions, and simultaneously deliver high quality where it matters. 
• Genuine curiosity about AI: You already use tools like ChatGPT or Claude in your daily work, critically evaluate their results, and want to fundamentally rethink processes instead of just digitizing them. 

Nice-to-haves 

• You have already set up agentic workflows or automations in the finance department (e.g., with LLMs, RPA, or tools like n8n or Make) and can concretely demonstrate how quality, lead time, and close have improved as a result.  
• Experience in a software/SaaS company or a fast-growing start-up/scale-up; familiarity with SaaS metrics.  
• Experience in a private equity environment.  
• Exposure to transfer pricing topics.  
• Familiarity with Employer-of-Record (EOR) structures and their
