Senior BI Developer (m/f/d)

For an established, technology-oriented company, we are looking for an experienced Senior BI Developer (m/f/d) with a focus on Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Azure as part of direct placement through PRIME HR Agentur®.

In this position, you will develop modern data solutions that help companies derive concrete insights and better business decisions from reliable data. In addition to classic BI solutions, AI-supported applications, automations, bots, copilots, and AI agents also play an increasingly important role.

You will work independently on challenging customer projects and be in direct exchange with technical and business contacts on the customer side.

Responsibilities

• Development and further development of modern BI and data solutions based on Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Azure
• Building and maintaining Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, Data Pipelines, and Notebooks
• Developing high-performance Power BI models, reports, and DAX calculations
• Creating and optimizing SQL-based data structures and data models
• Translating business requirements into concrete technical implementation steps
• Independently coordinating technical issues with customers from IT and business departments
• Planning and estimating development effort as well as structured implementation within agile project teams
• Developing, testing, documenting, and productively deploying data products
• Using modern AI tools to optimize development, analysis, documentation, and quality assuranceConceiving and implementing AI-based data products for specific business use casesIdentifying and testing useful applications for automations, bots, copilots, and AI agents
• Transitioning successful AI prototypes into secure, maintainable, and production-ready solutions
• Working with version control and collaborative development processes, ideally with Git and Azure DevOps
• Early identification and communication of risks, data problems, or unclear requirementsIdentifying optimization potential in existing data landscapes
• Documenting best practices and sharing your own know-how within the team

Qualifications

You combine strong technical competence with the ability to communicate complex issues understandably. You are also confident in direct communication with customers and take responsibility for your technical topics.

Ideally, you bring with you:

• At least 4 years of professional experience in BI or data platform development
• Experience in working with customers and/or business stakeholders
• In-depth knowledge of the Azure data environment, especially Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or Synapse
• Practical experience with Lakehouse and Data Warehouse concepts
• Very good knowledge of Power BI, especially data modeling, DAX, and reporting
• Very good SQL skills
• Confident handling of dimensional data modeling and star schema concepts
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and notebook-based workflows
• Experience in agile development environments and working with user stories, effort estimations, and sprint goals
• Knowledge of Git and modern collaborative development processes
• Experience with testing, deployment, and operation of productive data solutions
• Very good English skills, both written and spoken
• Proficient and responsible use of modern AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, Cursor, Codex, or comparable solutions

Additionally, the following are particularly interesting:

• Experience with the development and implementation of AI-supported data products
• Knowledge of current LLMs and Small Language Models
• Experience with LLM APIs, agent orchestration, or automation platforms
• Knowledge of tools such as n8n, Make, Claude Code, or comparable technologies
• Experience in transitioning AI prototypes into secure and long-term maintainable production solutions
• Knowledge of Databricks
• Experience with Python or PySpark
• Good German language skills from B2 level
• Experience in a customer-oriented project environment
• Willingness to actively follow technological developments and share acquired knowledge with the team

Your potential development path

The position deliberately starts with a strong focus on hands-on technical implementation. With appropriate development, further tasks in the areas of solution architecture, technical leadership, project management, or development of new customer solutions can be progressively taken on.

What you can achieve in the first few months

After the first 3 months:

• You know your customers, their processes, and the relevant data structures.
• You independently take on billable project tasks.
• Your developed solutions are tested, documented, and production-ready.
• You confidently apply established development and AI working methods.
• You have identified initial concrete potentials for AI-based data solutions.

After about 6 months:

• Customers entrust you with independent technical topics.
• Your work meets the agreed quality standards.
• You make an active contribution to the internal knowledge base.
• You identify and address concrete optimization opportunities in customer environments.
• You participate in at least one AI-supported solution, automation, or comparable project.
