Kijimea – From research. For your life. Since our founding in 2011, we have pursued a clear vision: We want to selectively harness the potential of the microbiota (bacteria) in our gut for a longer and healthier life – for everyone.

We achieved a first major milestone on this path as early as 2013 with the discovery and clinical research of the unique bacterial strain B. bifidum MIMBb75 (Kijimea Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Since then, we have been able to noticeably improve the lives of millions of irritable bowel syndrome patients worldwide. Today, B. bifidum MIMBb75 is one of the most well-researched bacterial strains worldwide. Its effectiveness and unique mechanism of action have been proven and published in numerous clinical studies – including in renowned journals such as The Lancet.

We work with leading research institutions such as Charité Berlin to investigate the connections between the microbiota (bacteria in our gut) and allergies, skin diseases, and mental disorders. In short: We are investigating how the bacteria in our gut influence a longer and healthier life.

Your Mission with Us

Do you want to actively shape the technological foundation of a leading e-commerce company and influence the future of online retail with innovative solutions? Then you are exactly right with us!
As a (Senior) Backend Web Developer Shopify (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the technical infrastructure of our Shopify PLUS shop – from the architecture to the development of performant backend processes to integration into our system landscape. You will design stable, scalable interfaces and develop tailor-made solutions that seamlessly connect and continuously improve our platform. In this way, you will make a significant contribution to giving millions of people a longer and healthier life with our probiotics.

Your Tasks

• You will be responsible for the smooth connection and further development of all interfaces between e-commerce and adjacent departments (e.g., accounting, operations).

• You will develop and extend performant backend solutions (e.g., Shopify Apps, API interfaces) to individually expand our online shop and the entire system landscape.

• You will assume overall responsibility for the architecture, the technological foundation, and the tool landscape of our international Shopify PLUS shop.

• You will develop and further develop our Shopify PLUS shop in 11 countries, ensuring scalable, seamless integration into our internal IT infrastructure.

• In close cooperation with product management, you will conduct A/B tests, drive optimizations, and set new standards for an outstanding digital shopping experience.

Your Profile

• You have a completed university degree, ideally in computer science, digital marketing, or e-commerce.

• You have several years of experience in building and managing modern e-commerce platforms – especially Shopify PLUS – as well as in-depth knowledge of configuring Shopify and app settings.

• You have strong conceptual thinking skills and the ability to analyze complex challenges and develop tailor-made, non-"ready-made" solutions – always with an eye on the requirements of other departments.

• You are proficient in handling API interfaces and have experience in developing your own Shopify Apps.

• You have a passion for e-commerce and a desire to actively shape the digital development of the company.

• You have a pronounced hands-on mentality: You quickly familiarize yourself with new technologies and approach tasks analytically and solution-oriented.

• You work in a team-oriented manner while maintaining personal responsibility for your projects.

• You work proactively and in a structured manner and deliver high-quality results even under time pressure.

• You have very good English skills (min. C1 level), ideally complemented by good German skills (min. B1 level).
