Senior Backend Developer – Agents (100% Remote / German-Speaking)

Hausverwalter.ai is an all-in-one platform for property management companies, with features like Inbox, CRM, Documents, Telephony, Video Calls, Team Chat, and AI Agents. Our mission is to automate everything a property manager does.

About the Role
Our platform is agent-centric from day one. Before we even planned the UI, we planned how agents would interact with the software. Remember – our goal is to automate the entire industry, and we mean it.
Today, for almost everything a user can do in the UI, there is an agent tool, and the co-pilot (the user's daily assistant) can take care of everything for them, even turning on and off dark mode.
But the co-pilot is just the beginning. The real challenge is autonomous agents. More on that below.

What You Will Work On

• Inbox Agents: Autonomous agents that jump in as soon as something new happens in a ticket. Customers train them themselves OR simply use one of the templates you build for them. These agents can already handle complete complex workflows on their own today and are one of the main reasons customers are interested in our software. But when should an agent hand over to a human instead of finishing it themselves? How do we ensure it sticks to the process? These are your questions.

• Harness Engineering: The agent has over 100 tools. But it needs to understand a request as a property manager understands it, not just by how the terms sound outside the industry. What belongs in the System Prompt, what belongs in Skills?

• Knowledge Base: Our platform has its own Knowledge Base, similar to Notion. Completely self-built and designed as the collective brain of the company. But should the AI also learn on its own? And if so, when? And how do we improve search in the Knowledge Base – through better tools, System Prompts, or Skills?

• Voice Agents: The same agents, just on the phone – built on LiveKit, handling calls just like our text agents handle tickets.

• LLM Infrastructure. Choosing the right model for the respective task, reducing latency through caching and streaming, retrying cleanly in case of provider failures, keeping context compact, optimizing RAG search, tracking usage across all providers, reducing costs, and verifying what's really better with Evals.

Salary

5000 – 6000 Euros gross, with room for growth and promotions in the coming months and years

• fluent in English and German

• an experienced developer with more than 2 years of experience building agents for production use

• AI-native. You have shipped agentic features that real users rely on, and you have an opinion on retrieval, evals, tool design, and where today's state-of-the-art models hit their limits.

• a builder first. You prefer to ship a rough v1 today rather than planning the perfect one for three weeks.

• up-to-date with new AI models and research

• someone who writes almost all their code with AI

• used to working autonomously and taking full responsibility for your tasks

• even better under pressure

• fast at learning new things, and see yourself as a generalist, not a specialist
