For a central development project in the area of payment processing and accounting systems, we are looking for a senior backend engineer (gn) as of July 2026.

In this responsible role, you will work on the development of a critical payment processing system (SEPA environment). You will take on a central function in implementing complex technical models into performant, transaction-safe software components.

Tasks

• Implementation of complex software components based on technical UML models
• Tight coordination with subject matter experts to ensure technical correctness and traceability
• Development of dialog components in the payment processing environment (SEPA)
• Implementation of performance-critical and transaction-safe backend logic
• Further development and integration of SOAP web services and file interfaces
• Integration of the application into an existing dialogue and system architecture
• Conducting comprehensive quality assurance measures (unit, integration, performance, and load tests)
• Analysis and correction of errors during pilot phases
• Coaching and support for developers on architectural and implementation questions
• Participation in architectural decisions and multi-layer design

Qualification

• Degree in computer science or a comparable field, or equivalent qualification with relevant professional experience
• Multiple years of experience in Java enterprise development (Java EE/Jakarta EE)
• Very good knowledge of multi-layer architectures, persistence layers (e.g. EJB Persistence Provider) and relational databases (especially Oracle)
• Good knowledge of development with Eclipse, Maven, Git, and TestNG (or comparable test frameworks)
• Experience in developing and integrating SOAP web services
• Very good knowledge of UML modeling
• Experience with complex, performance-critical, and transaction-safe software
• Knowledge in resource management for dialogue and batch operation
• Experience in conducting unit, integration, performance, and load tests
• Experience in projects in the public sector or at an IT service provider (advantageous)
• Very good German language skills in writing and speaking (at least B2)
• Structured, analytical, and self-responsible working style
