Senior Azure Data Engineer - Johannesburg - up to R1.2 mil per annum

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing data engineering activities in line with the bank's standards, frameworks, and strategy. Key Responsibilities: * Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data solutions on the Azure platform. * Implement data ingestion, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes. * Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate solutions. * Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the data platform. * Monitor and optimise the performance of data solutions. * Implement and maintain data governance policies and procedures. * Automate data engineering tasks. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering practices. * Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members. * Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering technologies and trends. Qualifications & Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. * Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on the Azure platform. * Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, data modelling, and ETL/ELT processes. * Proficiency in Azure data services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Databricks. * Experience with data integration tools and techniques. * Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Scala, or SQL. * Experience with big data technologies such as Spark and Hadoop. * Experience with data governance and data security best practices. * Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. * Experience within the Financial Services / Banking environment is beneficial.
