Senior API Gateway Specialist – Layer 7 / CA API Gateway

We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior API Gateway Specialist with deep expertise in Layer 7 / CA API Gateway, integration design, and API security to join our digital transformation and integration team.

Key Responsibilities

· Design and implement secure, scalable APIs using CA API Gateway (Layer 7) and other API management tools.

· Define and develop API integration policies, assertions, and routing rules in support of enterprise and cloud systems.

· Lead API integrations using REST, SOAP, Kafka, and other data exchange formats.

· Work with tools such as Swagger, MOCH, Apickli, Bitbucket, Jira, and Cucumber for API development and automation.

· Create and maintain detailed design documentation including use cases, sequence diagrams, and standards.

· Manage DevOps processes related to API delivery and CI/CD pipelines.

· Administer and support Confluent Kafka and streaming analytics for real-time data integrations.

· Ensure compliance with security policies, data protection regulations, and bank API standards.

· Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver integration roadmaps aligned with strategic business goals.

Required Skills & Experience

· 5+ years in software development or integration, with at least 3 years in Digital Integration roles.

· 3–5+ years working with REST APIs, designing and managing API Gateways.

· Hands-on experience with:

o CA API Gateway (Layer 7) – version 9.4 preferred

o API Management, policy creation, and assertion scripting

o DevOps tools: Bitbucket, Swagger, Apickli, Cucumber, Jira

o Kafka (Apache or Confluent), streaming data integration

o SOAP, XML, XSD, WSDL, Oracle PL/SQL, Shell scripting

· Exposure to cloud and on-premise API deployments

· Proficiency in API security standards, token-based authentication (OAuth, JWT), and gateway hardening

· Experience developing and applying architecture patterns and standards

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex integration scenarios

Desirable Skills

· Experience with Data Integration tools and streaming analytics

· Working knowledge of modern cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)

· Familiarity with DataOps/DevOps best practices

· Background in banking or financial services
