What we are looking for

Chiesi Global Rare Diseases is seeking a Senior Analytical Scientist with expertise in the development, optimization, and validation of complex analytical methodologies for ATMP products, including oligonucleotides and mRNA and LNP-based products.

This is what you will do

• Lead the analytical development and control strategy for gene editing products from candidate selection to commercial launch;
• Design and oversee product development, qualification, validation, and characterization;
• Define robust control strategies for CQAs of mRNA-LNP products and other modalities;
• Manage outsourced activities with CROs/CDMOs, including selection, auditing, technical supervision, troubleshooting, and risk management;
• Review and approve technical and regulatory documentation;
• Contribute to the department's development in line with strategic objectives, sharing knowledge and best practices.

You will need to have

• Master's degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, or related fields;
• 5-10 years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector, preferably with exposure to gene editing, CGT/ATMP, nucleic acid-based products, and lipid nanoparticles;
• Expertise in analytical methods such as UPLC/UHPLC, IP-RP chromatography, SEC, DLS, LC-MS, NGS or Sanger sequencing, UV-Vis spectroscopy, electrophoretic methods, analytical method development and validation, and control strategies;
• Experience in managing outsourced analytical activities, including technical oversight and escalation management;
• Good knowledge of GMP, regulations, and the CMC lifecycle;
• Ability to work effectively in matrix organizations and influence cross-functional teams;
• Excellent technical writing, data review, and regulatory documentation skills;
• A pragmatic, results-oriented approach and communication skills in international contexts.

Location

The position can be based in any European country with hybrid and remote options.

Compensation range

The minimum salary for the role in Italy is €59,000, adjusted based on skills, experience, and local context. The role is eligible to participate in an annual variable bonus based on individual and company performance.
