Senior AI Engineer (m/f/d)

You develop AI-based functions, platforms, and services that noticeably advance our business, and actively shape our AI capabilities and the technical basis for them. You will work closely with the product team and the business units, set high standards in architecture and implementation, and support less experienced engineers through mentoring and active knowledge exchange.

• End-to-end responsibility: You are responsible for topics from idea to design and architecture to release and operation, identify opportunities and risks early on, and deliver measurable results.
• Scalable systems: You develop and operate reliable, scalable services and applications and ensure that they remain robust, maintainable, and easy to understand.
• Focus on code quality: You write clean, testable, and efficient code, primarily in Python, and raise quality through reviews, clear standards, and pragmatic engineering practices.
• User-centric implementation: You work closely with product managers and stakeholders, develop user-centric functions, and adapt them quickly based on feedback and results.
• AI and agentic systems: You identify sensible application areas for AI, develop initial solutions as prototypes, and bring AI Agents & Workflows into productive use in a controlled manner, for example for automation, decision support, or internal engineering productivity.
• Architecture and reviews: You contribute to technical design decisions and code reviews and raise the bar for reliability, maintainability, and performance.
• Continuous improvement: You continuously improve systems, tools, and processes, thereby sustainably strengthening the team's effectiveness.
• Work model: You work remotely within Germany or hybrid at our locations in Düsseldorf or Berlin, depending on your preference and team coordination.

• Experience with AI in products: You have developed and productively rolled out AI or ML functions, for example with LLM or agent workflows, prompt and tooling patterns, evals and monitoring, AI safety best practices, or dataset design.
• Senior Software Engineering: You have several years of professional experience in software development, possess very good Python skills, and think object-orientantly.
• Cloud and delivery: You are familiar with modern development workflows and enjoy working in cloud environments, ideally with AWS and cloud-native deployments.
• AI-assisted development tools: You confidently and responsibly use AI-assisted programming tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or comparable tools to work more productively.
• Product mindset: You think from the user and the result and actively question why we are building something, not just how.
• Responsibility and perseverance: You take responsibility for results, independently lead topics from conception to operation, and then iteratively improve them.
• Collaboration and communication: You communicate clearly, enjoy working across departments, and actively share knowledge within the team.
• Languages: You speak German at C1 level and English at C1 or C2 level.
• Plus: You are enthusiastic about AI, have your own projects, and enjoy sharing work samples or demos.
