About Our Client

A number of well-established Auckland chartered accounting firms are looking for experienced Senior Accountants to join their public practice teams, either as strong Senior Accountants or stepping into Assistant Manager roles.

These firms are growing and are seeking professionals who can confidently manage client portfolios, support junior staff, and contribute to the ongoing success of their teams.

If you enjoy a mix of compliance and advisory work, like taking ownership of your clients, and want to be part of a friendly, collaborative team, this could be the perfect next step for you.

You’ll be preparing and reviewing financial statements, GST, FBT, PAYE, and income tax returns, assisting clients with advisory, managing your own client portfolio, mentoring junior staff, reviewing work, and tackling more complex assignments as you grow in the role.

These positions suit proactive, organised professionals who thrive on managing multiple clients and deadlines.

Please note: Candidates must have at least 4 years’ experience in a New Zealand public practice firm and full work rights for New Zealand.

About the Role

You’ll work across a varied client base, delivering high-quality financial reporting, tax compliance, and business advisory services. This role is ideal for someone who values teamwork, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to grow their career while experiencing the vibrancy of Auckland city living.
  • Key Responsibilities BAS & Tax Compliance: Prepare and review financial statements and tax returns (GST, FBT, PAYE, provisional tax, year-end filings), ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
  • Client Communication: Liaise with clients to collect information, answer queries, and provide clear guidance on compliance and advisory matters.
  • Team Support & Mentoring: Provide support and guidance to junior accountants, reviewing work, and helping develop their skills.
  • Process Improvement: Identify ways to improve team efficiency, workflows, and overall processes.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field in NZ, with CA or CPA qualification (or working toward)
  • Solid knowledge of New Zealand tax, accounting standards, GST, FBT, and payroll obligations
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Clear and professional communication, able to explain accounting and compliance concepts effectively
  • Collaborative approach and willingness to mentor junior staff
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, shifting priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
