Senior Accountant (m/f/d)

Your Role

Together with the Head of Finance, you will build a professional, scalable, and auditable accounting function. You will not only take on classic accounting tasks but also contribute expert knowledge in the areas of accounting, taxes, annual financial statements, and process design. In the coming years, you will play a significant role in structuring knowledge, standardizing processes, driving automation, and will eventually take over the leadership of the accounting team.

Your Mission

Accounting & Financial Statements

• Responsibility for the execution and further development of ongoing financial accounting
• Preparation and quality assurance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to HGB
• Responsibility for accounting, valuation, and accrual/deferral topics
• Execution and review of account reconciliations
• Ensuring complete and proper bookkeeping

Tax & Compliance

• Responsibility for VAT topics domestically and internationally
• Support with tax-related questions
• Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Point of contact for tax advisors and auditors

Process Optimization & Digitalization

• Analysis and further development of existing accounting processes
• Building and documenting an Accounting Manual
• Introduction of efficient closing and control processes
• Further development of the system landscape (especially Odoo and DATEV)
• Identification and implementation of automation potential

Audit & Governance

• Preparation and support of annual audits
• Building a robust internal control system
• Ensuring high data and closing quality
• Participation in investor, bank, and due diligence inquiries

Leadership & Development

• Professional development of the existing accounting team
• Knowledge transfer and coaching of less experienced employees
• Prospective assumption of the technical and disciplinary management of financial accounting

Your Profile

• Successfully completed training as a Certified Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter), Certified Tax Assistant (Steuerfachwirt), or a degree with a focus on Accounting, Finance, or Taxes
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, ideally in a medium-sized company, scale-up, or an auditing firm
• Very good knowledge of accounting according to HGB and sound experience in preparing annual financial statements
• Good knowledge of VAT law and experience in supporting audits
• Very good knowledge of DATEV and experience with ERP systems, ideally Odoo, are advantageous
• High level of professional confidence and independent working style, as well as the ability to actively build structures and processes
• Pragmatism combined with a high standard of quality
• Hands-on mentality and enjoyment of working in a dynamic growth environment
• Strong communication skills, team orientation, and pleasure in knowledge transfer and employee development
