Job description
Who we are
As a leading Swiss e-commerce platform, with a team of over 4,000 employees in Switzerland, Germany, and Serbia, we are on our way into new markets. The driver for this is our desire to constantly rethink what already exists. That's why we're looking for people who work with passion to make things truly better. With us, you'll find the freedom and trust to act with self-responsibility, to grow with us, and to be your authentic self. Act galactically. And stay you.
Accounting at Digitec Galaxus means more than just preparing financial statements and making correct entries. We actively shape processes, develop our system landscape, and utilize automation, AI, and data-driven working methods to continuously improve our financial reporting.
For our eleven-person team, we are looking for a Senior Accountant, starting immediately or by appointment. Together, we are responsible for the financial reporting of Digitec Galaxus AG, Galaxus Deutschland GmbH, and, in collaboration with a local trustee, the Serbian company. Our area of responsibility also includes monthly and annual financial statements, tax returns, daily liquidity planning, and group-wide transfer pricing.
Senior Accountant (m/f/d)
Your tasks
- You will be responsible for central areas of financial accounting and will also participate in monthly and annual financial statements.
- You will analyze balance sheet and income statement positions, investigate discrepancies down to the transaction level, and consistently pursue them to resolution.
- You will strategically use automation and AI for reconciliations, variance analyses, documentation, and other recurring tasks, ensuring professional quality, traceability, and effective controls.
- You will independently assess complex business transactions and develop suitable booking and process solutions.
- You will check data flows between operational systems, interfaces, data warehouse, and financial accounting for completeness and accuracy.
- You will translate functional requirements into technical requirements and accompany system changes, interface adjustments, and testing.
- You will identify potential for improvement early on and develop accounting processes cross-departmentally.
- Supporting internal and external audits is also part of your responsibilities.
Your skills
- A completed degree in business administration with a focus on Finance or Accounting, or a comparable further education in finance and accounting.
- Several years of experience in financial accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles.
- Strong IT affinity and a good understanding of ERP systems, data flows, and interfaces; knowledge of SQL, BI tools, or automation solutions is a plus.
- Experience with complex, transaction-intensive business models, ideally in retail, e-commerce, or the technology sector.
- Interest in AI and new technologies, as well as the enjoyment of practically testing and implementing their application possibilities in financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and networked thinking skills, as well as the ability to independently structure new and unclear situations and drive them consistently to resolution.
- Very good German and good English language skills.
- Taking calculated risks to create value and drive growth.
- Having the courage to try things without planning them down to the smallest detail.
Why start with us?
- Values, not empty words: Cooperative, innovative, pirate-like, self-responsible, ambitious – we demand and live these five values.
- Think courageously for yourself: We encourage everyone to think for themselves and actively contribute. And we love it when you think courageously, newly, and differently.
- Uncomplicated: We avoid the unnecessary and focus on what's important. From mastering challenges to celebrating our successes.
- Flexibility instead of bending: In addition to home office options, we offer you up to 8 weeks of workation. Furthermore, every position is also possible with an 80% workload.
- Fast growth: You will constantly grow and develop with us. And receive support for your further development so you don't stand still.
- Further benefits: Benefit from 25 days of vacation, exclusive employee discounts in the shop, mobile phone, internet, and TV subscriptions at company rates, and other advantages.
Diversity is our culture.
To build the best team, we are open to people from all backgrounds. This means: Everyone has equal opportunities with us. Origin, religion, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and play no role in this. Because for us, inclusion means that everyone is welcome and every contribution is valuable.
