Job description

We're building the future of urban stays. One city at a time.

Homaris is dedicated to one of the most pressing challenges of modern cities: people from all over the world need places where they can live, work, and feel at home. We develop and operate fully digitized serviced apartments in major German cities. Our next step: Europe and beyond.

With the nanopartment®, we pursue a product vision that rethinks modern temporary living – in the smallest possible space.

Our revenue has tripled within two years – organically and under our own steam. Without venture capital. Without an exit strategy. We think long-term and are consistently building our company based on this principle.

Exceptional people make this development possible. Now we are looking for another person to help shape this path with us.

Your Role

You will work in our Finance team and be responsible for the correct and reliable booking of business transactions of our companies. Together with the existing accounting team, you will ensure that necessary payments are correctly processed and booked in all areas of the company. The use of modern software solutions accelerates and digitizes our processes. You will play a central role in the company and will be in regular exchange with the various departments.

This position is aimed at a person who works independently, actively shapes processes, and wants to grow with Homaris in the long term.

What You'll Do

Review and book business transactions. You will ensure that all business transactions are correctly recorded in DATEV.

Be responsible for accounts receivable and accounts payable. You will record the transactions properly and also manage fixed assets and bank accounting.

Manage incoming payments and payment runs. You will control incoming payments and create the necessary payment runs.

Submit tax notifications. You will submit the VAT pre-declarations and accommodation tax returns.

Reconcile accounts. You will perform reconciliation work in the general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable areas, as well as for intercompany accounts.

Prepare financial statements. You will undertake preparatory activities and assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB.

Process credit card statements. You will process and book credit card statements via Pleo.

Digitally develop processes further. You will proactively optimize processes and increase the degree of digitalization.

What Makes You a Fit

Relevant education and experience. You have completed commercial training and have at least three years of professional experience in accounting.

Knowledge of German accounting principles. You have knowledge of HGB and the Value Added Tax Act (Umsatzsteuergesetz).

DATEV experience. You have experience with the DATEV accounting software. Further training is a plus. Ideally, you have completed further training as a certified accountant (IHK).

Digital proficiency. You are proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, and are open to a digital work environment.

Independence and team spirit. You work independently and are self-motivated, but also a team player and enjoy looking beyond your own area of responsibility.

Improvement-oriented. You recognize areas for improvement and are interested in actively shaping and further developing your area.

Language skills. You have very good German language skills at least at C1 level and good English language skills at least at B1 level.

AI affinity. You use digital tools with ease, recognize their potential, and are enthusiastic about how AI can make everyday work more efficient.

Presence. You work in Berlin or are willing to relocate to Berlin. You enjoy working with others in person – because that's how good work is created.

The Environment

Homaris is consistently focused on the long term. We do not invest in short-term growth with the goal of selling quickly. We are building something sustainable and substantial – and are looking for people who want to go this path together with us and take on long-term responsibility.

The pace is high. The challenges are demanding and immediate. Our team is intentionally kept small so that each person makes a tangible contribution.

We don't always take enough time to visibly celebrate our successes together. We are working on this – and would be pleased if you would support us in this.

What We Offer

We do not define our levels based on job titles or years of experience, but on which topics you independently manage and for which decisions you stand.

Furthermore, we have intensively considered what people need to do their best work while also living well. This has resulted in a benefits package that reflects exactly that: health, mobility, personal development, flexibility, and some special advantages that come with working in the travel and hospitality industry. Much of it is already included.

We will gladly present the details in a personal conversation.
