Job description

YOUR ROLE

As our (Senior) Accountant / Bookkeeper (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the ongoing accounting of BIT Capital, a regulated investment firm with €3 billion AuM, and report to our Finance Manager Lachezar Georgiev.

In your role, you will focus on:

  • Accounting from A to Z. You will book incoming and outgoing invoices in DATEV, manage payment runs, reconcile open items, and maintain fixed asset accounting.

  • The month-end closing. You will prepare the month-end closing according to HGB (German Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and submit it to controlling by the second calendar week.

  • Support with the year-end closing. You will assist with the year-end closing by January 20th and interact with the tax office and our external auditors.

  • Travel Expenses & Payments. You will review travel expenses in Navan, authorize payments, and maintain an overview of cash flows with short-term liquidity planning.
  • Automation. You will build imports and evaluations, for example from Candis and Excel to DATEV, and implement AI where it replaces manual work.

  • Reporting. After onboarding, you will gradually take over reporting tasks such as AWV (foreign trade) notifications and help shape this area.

Your Experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in financial accounting, ideally in the regulated financial industry (a plus, not a must).

  • Completed commercial apprenticeship with further education in accounting or a degree in business administration; qualification as a Certified Accountant (IHK) is an advantage.

  • You have independently booked in DATEV and prepared monthly and annual financial statements according to HGB.

  • You work confidently with Excel, including large exports, Pivot Tables, and VLOOKUP.

  • You work precisely, identify discrepancies early, and address them directly.

  • You communicate confidently in German; good English skills are an advantage.

2 Reasons Not to Apply

  • Are you looking for a role in a large accounting team where each person only handles a specific area? With us, you will be responsible for the accounting of a company from start to finish and will shape the processes behind it yourself.

  • Do you want fixed procedures that don't change for years? We are currently expanding and automating our accounting, and you will have a say in which tools we use for it.

Your Mindset

  • You have a passion for stocks, financial markets, and technology.

  • You naturally use AI tools in your daily work and consistently think about automation within your own area of responsibility.

  • Deadlines are binding for you, and you plan your work so that the closing is completed on time.

  • You handle confidential information discreetly.

  • You finish things and don't wait for perfect conditions.

What We Offer You

  • Responsibility for the accounting of a growing, regulated asset manager: You shape rather than just manage.

  • Direct access to management, a direct reporting line to Lachezar Georgiev (Finance Manager), and short decision-making processes in a team of 50 colleagues from 15 nations.

  • Room to further automate our accounting with Candis, DATEV, and AI, and to build your own workflows.

  • An environment where the team is significantly invested in its own funds and technology is at the core.

  • Flexible working hours: Full-time or 35 hours, with the option to increase later.
