Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant – Early Years Location: SP6 Area Start Date: ASAP Employer: Teaching Personnel (working in partnership with a local primary school) Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming, supportive school in the SP6 area , seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and developing effective communication strategies to meet the individual needs of each child. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the class teacher, other support staff and parents to deliver tailored interventions that promote positive outcomes for all pupils. Key responsibilities will include: • Providing one-to-one support to children with ASD, using a range of strategies to promote social skills, emotional regulation and independence. • Developing and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the class teacher and other professionals. • Assisting with the planning and delivery of sensory integration activities, adapted PE sessions and other interventions designed to meet the needs of children with ASD. • Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress, including observations, photographs and written reports. • Collaborating with the class teacher and other support staff to develop and implement a range of strategies to promote positive behaviour and reduce challenging behaviour. • Providing emotional support and guidance to parents and carers, helping them to understand their child's needs and how they can best support them at home. The ideal candidate will have: • A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or a related field. • Experience of working with children with ASD and other special educational needs. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative and creativity to develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of pupils. • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond positively to changing circumstances and priorities. • A commitment to equal opportunities and a willingness to challenge and support all pupils, regardless of their background or abilities.
