A friendly and inclusive local primary school in East London is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with special educational needs to make a meaningful impact in the classroom every day.

Salary & Working Hours

£15 – £18 per hour (depending on experience)

£2,500 – £3,000 per month (approx.)

Full-time: Monday to Friday

Term-time only

Role Overview

You will work closely with SEN pupils and teachers, providing one-to-one and small group support to help children achieve their academic, social, and personal development goals. You will assist with classroom activities, implement learning plans, and help create a positive and inclusive environment.

Daily Duties & Responsibilities

Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language needs, and learning difficulties

Assist the teacher in delivering lessons and adapting materials for individual needs

Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with EHCPs

Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour

Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment

Help implement personalised learning plans

Support pupils’ social and emotional development

Communicate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents

Follow safeguarding procedures at all times

Entry Requirements

NVQ Level 3 or Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent in Education, Childcare, SEN, or related field

Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a school or similar setting

Understanding of EHCPs and inclusive education practices

Ability to adapt activities to meet individual pupil needs

Strong communication, teamwork, and behaviour management skills

Patient, compassionate, and supportive approach

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)

Right to work in the UK
