Secondary Teacher - English
Job description
A well-established, independent faith-based school in Gisborne is seeking a committed Secondary English Teacher to join their team from January 2026.
About the Role
This role suits an English teacher who enjoys delivering structured, engaging programmes and helping students build confidence across literacy, analysis, and communication and is comfortable or open to delivering lessons online.
You'll teach Years 9-13 English, across both junior and senior levels. The school is ideally seeking a teacher with New Zealand classroom experience, particularly someone confident working within the NCEA framework.
You'll be well supported by clear systems, strong curriculum direction, and leadership.
About You
You'll be a New Zealand registered teacher who:
- Has experience teaching English within the NZ Curriculum and NCEA
- Is confident using IT and digital platforms to deliver classes
- Creates engaging, structured lessons for both in-person and online delivery
- Builds positive, respectful relationships with students and colleagues
- Enjoys contributing to a values-driven school community
