[What the role is] This role forms the operational backbone of laboratory services, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of diagnostic testing that directly impacts public health outcomes. The position requires technical expertise across diverse testing methodologies, from routine clinical assays to sophisticated molecular diagnostics and cell culture techniques, whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality control throughout all laboratory workflows. The role encompasses critical responsibilities such as: • Developing and implementing laboratory protocols and procedures; • Conducting quality control checks on laboratory tests and results; • Maintaining accurate records of laboratory testing and results; • Collaborating with laboratory staff to ensure the effective delivery of diagnostic services; • Participating in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with advances in laboratory techniques and technologies. The position also requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., biology, chemistry, biochemistry) and at least 2 years of experience working in a laboratory setting. A postgraduate qualification or certification in a relevant field would be an asset.
