Job description

Your Role

Most student jobs offer you little: stocking shelves, dishwasher, always the same routine.

We are a consulting firm with almost 15 million Euros in revenue, over 100 employees, and the ambition to fundamentally modernize tax consulting. And even as a student in a mini-job, you are part of it — not on the sidelines, but right in the middle.

You are a student looking for a part-time job that is more than just pocket money: you pitch in to keep things running — in an environment that works digitally, invests in modern technology, and where you will see and learn things that you won't encounter in any other student job.

You will support our team in Aalen with technology, digitalization, and organization. If both sides are convinced, this can lead to more — an internship, an apprenticeship, or a dual study program.

Your Responsibility

Technology & Workstations

  • You set up workstations — monitors, laptops, docking stations — so that new colleagues can get started on their first day.

  • You manage and inventory our hardware and keep track of which device is in use where.

Digitalization

  • You scan documents and file them neatly in the digital archive.

  • You help to replace paper processes — every folder you digitize will permanently disappear from the office.

Office Organization

  • You process mail, take care of office supplies, and prepare meeting rooms.

  • Depending on your interests, you will gain insights into financial accounting and internal projects.

What You Bring

Experience & Track Record

  • You are a student — whether from a secondary school, high school, or vocational school is less important to us than your attitude.

  • You don't need any prior work experience. What counts: you are reliable, punctual, and keep your promises.

  • Even if you've never worked in an office before, you are expressly invited — we evaluate by contribution, not by label. Those who pitch in and think along fit with us.

Skills & Work Style

  • You handle technology and documents with care.

  • You work independently — if something is unclear, you ask instead of waiting.

Mindset & Personality

  • You have initiative: You see what needs to be done and do it.

  • You are curious about how a digitally operating company works from the inside.

What You Won't Find With Us

  • No sidelined job on the periphery. Even as a student in a mini-job, you are part of the team — with real tasks that the company needs.

  • No 'we'll give you work when someone is free to guide you' setup. You will receive binding task packages with clear guidance, not just filling gaps.

  • No 'someday you'll get to work independently.' With us, it's from day one: you do, you take responsibility, you are corrected if necessary — but you don't wait.

  • No dusty office with mountains of paper and a fax machine. We invest in modern technology and digital processes — you work with devices and tools that you won't encounter in any other student job.

FAQ

1. What is Vogel — and where do you work?

Vogel is one of Germany's leading consulting firms for the middle market — a family business since 1959, based in Aalen — and is building the leading consulting platform for the middle market from it. We are growing at several locations: in Aalen/Ostwürttemberg as our established headquarters and in Munich as a new hub. At both locations, we are looking for people across all functions — from tax consulting and advisory to the strategic teams building the platform.

2. How are the salary bands to be understood?

Intentionally broad — and indicated at every point. We differentiate by track record and market value, not by degree: scarce, highly sought-after profiles at the upper end, less scarce at the lower end. We calibrate exclusively on the market — two people with similar experience can earn differently with us.

3. How much — and how — do you work at Vogel?

We measure by what you achieve, not by hours. However, it's also true: those looking for a 9-to-5 are not our first choice. We are looking for people who work intensely out of their own drive because the tasks are worth it. How you manage your time is largely up to you. What we share: we work together in person — culture, sparring, and the best ideas emerge from daily proximity. We are not a remote company and do not have extensive home office policies; occasional remote days are not a problem.

4. How does the application process work?

Lean, fast, transparent — and tiered by profile. For entry-level roles (internship, working student, career entry), two interviews and a short work sample are usually sufficient; experienced roles run a bit longer. For selected senior roles, we consider incorporating a joint work day in the future so that both sides can get to know each other better. Always applies: scheduled appointments, swift decisions, substantial feedback — regardless of the outcome.

5. How does variable compensation work?

Tied to performance quarterly, evaluated qualitatively. The scale increases with the level: up to 20% Associate, 27.5% Manager, 35% Senior Manager, 42.5% Director, 50% VP. The expected value with good performance — you meet the requirements, set your own accents, pass the Keeper Test — is around 50% of the maximum; the maximum bonus is not the norm. The focus is on a holistic assessment by your supervisor: ownership, quality, learning curve, collaboration, impact.

6. How do I develop — what career paths are there?

Two active paths: Mastery (technical depth, expert career) and Pioneer (leadership, management). You choose the direction after onboarding, usually in years 1-3. Career entry is not a special path, but the early part of the same journey — from working student or intern to Associate, for the best without a new application process.

7. Team, Culture, Vacation?

A shared lunch is an open daily offer — not mandatory; whoever wants to join can, anyone can eat at any time. In addition, dinner, social events, and offsites at regular intervals — not as a mandatory program, but because a good team also shares time outside of work. Benefits: well-thought-out and substantial, not symbolic. Vacation: 28 days.

8. I know someone — is there a referral bonus?

Yes — €2,500 for each successfully filled position (excluding internships). Brief context is enough: who you are thinking of, for which role, why. Doesn't have to be perfect, but needs to be substantial.

Compensation: €15 per hour
