Safety & Reliability Engineer (Avionic, Naval, Land Systems)

Within the Engineering Directorate, MBDA Italia SpA is looking for a Safety & Reliability Engineer.

Required Educational Qualification:

• Five-year degree in technical/scientific disciplines, preferably in Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

• University exams related to product Reliability and Safety, and/or postgraduate courses in these areas, are considered a preferential qualification.

Professional Experience

• Experience in the design of complex electronic devices or in the safety of avionics and/or land systems (railway, transport, etc.) with particular reference to the analysis and definition of safety requirements.

• Years of experience required: 1 to 4 years in a similar role.

Activities planned for the role:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

• Execution of plans and studies related to Safety Analysis, Hazard Assessment, Product Safety Verifications, such as Failure Modes & Effect and Critical Analysis, System Safety Assessment, Fault Tree Analysis, Safety Integrity Level assignment and allocation, Hazardous Material management, Pollution prevention programs.

• Definition of the product Safety Architecture and allocation of Safety requirements to subsystems.

• Identification of mathematical models and development of synergies with RAM activities.

• Conducting risk analyses during the product lifecycle phases from design to decommissioning.

• Management & verification of the Validation/Qualification process for product Safety aspects.

• Inspections and audits for Safety aspects at Partners, collaborators, or subcontractors.

Professional Skills:

In-depth knowledge related to the disciplines:

• Electronics (electronic devices, digital and power electronics)

• Electrical Engineering (low and medium voltage electrical distribution)

• Electronic computers (architecture of complex electronic devices)

Knowledge of the following is considered preferential:

• the main EU product safety regulations (Directives, Regulations)

• national legislation on Workplace Safety (D.Lgs. 81/08 and subsequent amendments)

• the main safety standards (EN-61508 or equivalent, MIL-STD-822E, EN-61010, EN-60950, SAE ARP-4754, SAE ARP-4761, DO-254, DO-178)

• Safety Critical architectures and applications (HW+SW)

Basic knowledge of the main tools supporting Safety and Reliability analyses (Isograph, ...).

Language Skills:

• Good knowledge of written and spoken English.

• Basic knowledge of French is also a preferential qualification.
