Robot Perception/ML Engineer (w/f/d) Autonomous Mobile Robots

Your Tasks

• You develop and improve perception models for autonomous mobile robots, including object recognition, obstacle classification, and free space recognition.
• You drive data-driven machine learning solutions forward by scaling automated labeling processes, using floating data, and closing the Sim2Real gap through synthetic data and simulation-based evaluation.
• You are responsible for model performance, define meaningful benchmarks, track relevant metrics, and achieve continuous improvements in real-world use as well as on benchmark level.
• You integrate and validate perception models within our ROS-based software stack and ensure reliable performance on real vehicles.
• You work closely with teams from navigation, regulation, and fleet management to develop robust perception solutions for autonomous operation.

Your Profile

• You have 2-5 years of professional experience and practical experience in the fields of robotics perception, computer vision, or machine learning.
• You have very good Python skills; experience with C++ is a plus.
• You have practical experience in training and evaluating neural networks (e.g., with PyTorch) and follow a data-centric approach to improve model performance.
• You bring experience with synthetic data, ML simulations, auto-labeling, active learning, or domain adaptation.
• You work structured and data-based when evaluating models and understand how to reliably measure real-world performance.
• You are familiar with ROS and Linux-based development environments.
• You think pragmatically, set goals, measure results, and improve solutions iteratively.
