About the role
This role reports to the Divisional Manager Engineering Services and is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations of the Council's roads and infrastructure network

Duties
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for the improvement of the road network
  • Develop, implement, and monitor major road construction and renewal projects such as pavement rehabilitation, road construction, concrete structures such as bridges, culverts, footpaths etc.
  • Prioritise infrastructure needs, and ensure effective delivery of projects
  • Ensure that all road and infrastructure works are completed to a high standard, within budget and on schedule.
  • Attend councils meetings, prepare reports to Council, and provide advice to senior managers on projects including budget costs.
Skills & experience
  • Relevant degree qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the management of roads infrastructure maintenance and construction
  • Some experience working with local government
  • Project management skills with extensive experience in complex infrastructure projects
  • Class C (standard) Driver's Licence
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage business processes, budgets and financial resources effectively
  • Highly developed communication skills (oral and written)
