Job description

Twenty years ago, the first Les Composantes selections came into being. A story born from a thirst for independence and a passion for vintage. An instinctive way of circulating clothing, guided by a particular attention to what lasts.

Following on from this, Sézane came to life in 2013: the first French fashion brand born online. Then came to enrich this universe: Octobre Éditions for men, Les Composantes, this time dedicated to the art of living, and Petit Sézane for children.

Everything was built as one moves through life: by impulses, by spontaneous gestures with that way of learning by doing. A different relationship to detail, to service, and to connection. A different way of dressing reality, first online, then through our Appartements.

We are currently looking for creative, structured, and agile talents who share the desire to constantly improve everything that can be improved. Passionate, autonomous talents who conceive of work with respect for others and for whom nothing is out of reach, as long as the means are provided.

We are looking for the talents of a Regulatory and Compliance Manager (M/F) to join our Legal team. This position is based in Paris (75).

The Regulatory and Compliance Manager ensures that the company complies with all regulations applicable to its activities, products, and processes, both nationally and internationally. They guarantee the compliance of collections (ready-to-wear and accessories, lifestyle, and decoration/home) with current standards, while integrating ethical, environmental, and social issues across all group brands. They also manage the group's corporate compliance system, particularly anti-corruption efforts.

Missions

1. Regulatory and Standard Monitoring

  • Ensure constant monitoring of applicable regulations: consumer law, labor law, commercial law, customs, textile regulations, REACH, product safety, labeling, environmental claims (Empowering Consumers directive), data protection
  • Identify regulatory changes that may impact the company's business (France, EU, UK, USA, manufacturing and distribution countries)
  • Inform internal teams of changes and assist them in their implementation

2. Product Compliance

  • Ensure that products comply with legal requirements regarding composition, traceability, labeling, safety, laboratory testing, across all categories (textiles, leather goods, jewelry, lifestyle, decoration/home)
  • Collaborate closely with quality, purchasing, design, product development, and supply chain teams to ensure the proper conduct of compliance audits and product tests (regulated substances, flammability, durability, child article safety…)

3. Corporate Compliance and Anti-Corruption Efforts

  • Manage the Sapin II law compliance system: corruption risk mapping, code of conduct, internal whistleblowing system, third-party evaluation procedures, training for exposed employees
  • Manage the reporting reception system (whistleblowers): reception, qualification, investigation, and follow-up, respecting confidentiality and legal deadlines
  • Deploy and monitor third-party due diligence procedures (suppliers, intermediaries, international agents)
  • Oversee obligations related to the duty of vigilance and sustainability reporting (CSRD), in conjunction with CSR and Finance teams

4. Team Support and Compliance Implementation

  • Draft or update internal procedures and various specifications (products, materials, supplies)
  • Train employees on regulatory and compliance issues (design, production, marketing, supply chain, purchasing, finance, sales teams)
  • Assist suppliers in ensuring product compliance and adherence to the company's social and environmental standards
  • Be the point of contact for operational teams on all compliance matters, and be able to arbitrate between regulatory requirements and business realities

5. Risk Management and Reporting

  • Implement prevention plans; manage and update the group's compliance risk mapping
  • Monitor compliance indicators and prepare regular reports
  • Manage situations related to non-compliance: product recalls, customer disputes, inspections by DGCCRF, AFA, CNIL, or foreign authorities
  • Manage relationships with external counsel on compliance matters

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in law (Master 2 in business law, compliance, consumer law, or equivalent); a compliance certification is a plus
  • 6 to 10 years of experience in compliance, either in-house or in a firm, with proven operational experience in deploying a Sapin II system
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods is highly desirable, ideally with exposure to textile product compliance and EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) schemes
  • Mastery of key regulations: Sapin II, GDPR, consumer law, duty of vigilance, textile and product safety regulations
  • Ability to translate regulations into simple operational processes, applicable by non-legal teams
  • Rigor, autonomy, sense of confidentiality, and resilience in sensitive situations
  • Fluent English is essential, international work environment
