Reporting to the Operations Director, your main responsibilities are as follows:

Hierarchical reporting

• Manages one to two employees responsible for the daily monitoring of metrology across all agencies nationwide.

Main mission

The Metrology Manager guarantees the metrological compliance of the equipment used for the transport of biological samples. He/she is responsible for the study, selection, installation, and monitoring of equipment that ensures the maintenance of the regulatory temperature chain in refrigerated vehicles. He/she works in close collaboration with the Fleet Manager, Operations Managers, and suppliers to ensure the reliability of equipment and the quality of transport.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Metrology and temperature control

• Define and implement the company's metrology policy.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for the transport of biological samples.

• Monitor temperature measurement equipment (sensors, recorders, probes, etc.).

• Organize equipment verification, calibration, and qualification operations.

• Analyze deviations and implement corrective actions.

• Know and enforce applicable standards: ADR (biological substances category B – UN3373), NF EN 12830 standard (temperature recorders) and NF X15-140 (calibration) / COFRAC accreditation.

Study and deployment of equipment

• Study technical solutions adapted to the company's needs.

• Define the technical specifications for temperature-controlled transport equipment.

• Manage the installation of refrigeration equipment and onboard monitoring systems.

• Participate in the validation of new vehicles and equipment.

• Ensure the control and daily monitoring of metrology telemonitoring platforms: two solutions are currently used, one from a supplier covering the majority of the fleet, the other from a second supplier currently in the testing phase.

• Supervise the company's proprietary internal tool, connected to the equipment and generating real-time alerts in case of temperature deviation.

• Report needs for evolution to the IT department and contribute to the continuous development and improvement of these tools.

Coordination with the fleet and operations

• Work with the Fleet Manager to plan vehicle installations, maintenance, and downtime.

• Coordinate with Operations to minimize the impact of interventions on activity.

• Ensure the operational availability of vehicles compliant with temperature requirements.

• Ensure driver awareness and training on best practices for maintaining the cold chain (loading, closing, door opening times, visual checks).

• Maintain a dashboard of temperature non-conformities and ensure follow-up with the invoicing of associated penalties.

• Provide Service Quality reporting to Operations Managers and Sales, to ensure customer follow-up and reassure them about the actions taken.

Supplier Management

• Identify and select suppliers of metrology equipment and services.

• Participate in consultations, tenders, and negotiations.

• Monitor maintenance contracts and supplier performance.

• Conduct technological watch on temperature-controlled transport equipment.

Quality and continuous improvement

• Participate in internal and external audits.

• Develop procedures and work instructions.

• Monitor performance indicators.

• Conduct root cause analyses in case of non-conformity.

• Propose continuous improvement actions.

• Represent metrology during quality audits conducted directly by laboratory clients and prepare the associated evidence (calibration certificates, temperature logs).

DECISION-MAKING ACTIVITIES

The Metrology Manager is required to:

• propose investments in measuring instruments and refrigeration equipment;

• validate the technical choices for installations;

• decide on actions to be taken in case of temperature deviation or non-conformity;

• arbitrate technical solutions in relation to operational constraints;

• select suppliers within the scope of their delegation.

• All these decisions must be validated with the Operations Directorate.

PROFILE SOUGHT

Education

• Bachelor's degree (Bac +3) or higher in a technical, quality, or equivalent field.

Experience

• 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar technical, quality, or analytical role.

• Experience in healthcare product transport, pharmaceutical logistics, laboratories, or temperature-controlled transport is appreciated but not essential, as this position is newly created internally.

Technical skills

• Ability to analyze technical cases and assist in decision-making.

• Basic knowledge of metrology, calibration, and cold chain management.

• Knowledge of regulations applicable to the transport of biological samples (ADR – UN3373, NF X15-140 / COFRAC).

• Analysis of temperature data.

• Proficiency in office software and metrology tracking software.
