Position: Residential Care Officer (ANZSCO Code: 411715)
Employer: Ferntree Gardens (Kun Hua Pty Ltd& Reubenhom Pty Ltd)
Location: 30 Forest Road, Ferntree Gully VIC 3156
Employment Type: Full Time
Salary: $77,000 – $79,000 per annum + Superannuation (commensurate with qualifications and experience)

About Us
Ferntree Gardens is a well-established Supported Residential Service (SRS) located in the heart of Ferntree Gully. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centred care and accommodation for individuals who require assistance with daily living. We specialise in supporting residents to maintain their independence, dignity, and mental well-being in a safe and nurturing environment.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and professional Residential Care Officer to join our team. This role is distinct from a personal care assistant position; we are looking for a strategic thinker who can assess, plan, and coordinate holistic care programs for our residents.

The Role
As a Residential Care Officer, you will provide care and supervision for residents (including those with disability and high support needs) living in our group housing setting. You will be responsible for the assessment of client needs and the development of structured support programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess Client Needs: Conduct interviews with residents and families to assess the nature and extent of physical, emotional, and social difficulties.
  • Program Development: Plan, develop, and implement individualised educational, training, and support programs aimed at maximising residents’ independence and well-being.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Regularly monitor the progress of clients, evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, and prepare detailed reports regarding behavioural and health changes.
  • Referral & Liaison: Refer clients to appropriate external agencies (e.g., health, welfare, housing, and community services) and liaise with government bodies and community groups to advocate for resident resources.
  • Daily Living Support (Strategic Oversight): While Care Aides manage routine tasks, you will oversee the implementation of care strategies, supporting families and staff in managing complex resident behaviours and goals.

Skills and Experience Required (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)

  • Qualifications: An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in Community Services, Disability, Individual Support, or a related health/welfare field. (Highly desirable)
  • Experience: At least one year of relevant post-qualification experience working in residential care, disability group homes, or Supported Residential Services (SRS). Candidates with three years of relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications will be considered.
  • Screening: Current NDIS Worker Screening Check / Police Check and Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
  • Licence: Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (desirable for transporting residents to appointments).
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in care documentation, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

How to Apply
Please submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your relevant experience and qualifications. Applications can be directed to the Manager via the contact details listed on the Senior Moves portal.

Ferntree Gardens is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all staff and residents.
