Residential Care Officer

We are seeking dedicated Residential Care Officer to support children, young people, and persons with disabilities in residential and group housing environments.This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to create stability, build trust, and help people move toward safer, stronger futures.
About the Role - As a Residential Care Officer, you will provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support while empowering clients to develop independence, resilience, and life skills. You’ll work closely with families, community services, and government agencies to deliver holistic, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, supportive, and structured care in residential settings
- Assess client needs and develop, implement, and review care and support plans
- Support clients with emotional, social, financial, educational, and health-related challenges
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate case notes and reports
- Assist young people to address behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties
- Refer clients to appropriate health, welfare, housing, employment, and community services
- Liaise with families, community groups, welfare agencies, and government bodies
- Assess community needs and promote awareness of available services
- Support families and provide education and care for children and disabled persons
- Supervise offenders on probation or parole (where applicable)
- Prepare reports, funding submissions, and documentation for government and other agencies
About You
- Qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Disability, Social Work, or related field (or relevant experience)
- Experience working with vulnerable children, young people, or people with disabilities
- Strong communication, assessment, and documentation skills
- Compassionate, resilient, and able to manage challenging situations calmly
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and overnight shifts
- Current Working With Children Check, Police Check, and First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
