Research Assistant (Jalisco)

The CIMMYT is an international pioneer organization, non-profit, dedicated to solving today's problems. It promotes improvements in quantity, quality, and reliability of production systems and basic cereals such as maize, wheat, triticale, sorghum, millet, and associated crops through applied agricultural science, especially in the global south, through solid collaborations. The CIMMYT is one of the main research centers of the GCIAR, a worldwide association dedicated to reducing poverty, increasing food security and nutrition, and improving natural resources.

The position will be located at CIMMYT in Jalisco.

Activities:

• SUPPORT THE JALISCO HUB (activities in different points of the state) in scaling up sustainable agriculture, according to the needs of various projects.
• C-coordinate the installation of modules, extension areas, and agronomic trials in collaboration with producers and technicians in Jalisco.
• ENSURE THE CORRECT COLLECTION OF DATA AND INFORMATION LOADING BY THE TECHNICAL TEAM OF MODULES, EXTENSION AREAS, AND AGRONOMIC TRIALS.
• SUGGEST AND IMPLEMENT NEW PRACTICES AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR MAIZE, WHEAT, BARLEY, AND ASSOCIATED CROPS IN JALISCO.
• C-coordinate the participation of the technical team in various tasks and events during crop cycles.
• D-document and report strategies, operations, and results obtained during projects.
• ANALYZE FIELD DATA AND GENERATE PRACTICAL REPORTS FOR THE DIVULGATION OF RESULTS AND IDENTIFICATION OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT.
• C-coordinate and develop training activities, demonstration events or field tours according to the needs of projects operated in the Hub

Requirements:

• The candidate must have a degree in agronomy or equivalent.
• The candidate must have 5 years of experience as an Agronomist in Jalisco, working with maize, wheat, barley, and associated crop producers.
• Knowledge of agricultural machinery.
• Basics knowledge of administrative processes.
• Basics knowledge of the English language.
• Licence to drive.
• The candidate must have experience in documenting and reporting field data.
• The candidate must show the following competencies: Supervisory skills for teams.
