Remote Internship in Editorial and Proofreading at Publishing House (m/w/d)

You are studying Germanistics, Literary Science, Linguistics or a similar field and want to gain practical experience in the publishing industry?

Then this internship is a good opportunity to get genuine insights into the work of a modern non-fiction book publisher. You will support us in reviewing and editing manuscripts, working with language, text structure, and style, and learn how a manuscript becomes a published book step by step.

The internship takes place remotely and is particularly suitable as an elective internship within your studies.

Tasks

• Support in linguistic, stylistic, and orthographic review of manuscripts
• Creation of structured feedback notes for authors
• Participation in editorial tasks around book projects
• Review of texts on readability, structure, expression, and legibility
• Support with research and smaller organizational tasks in the publishing routine
• Insights into other areas of book publication, such as book design, cover, title development, and marketing

Qualification

• Studies in Germanistics, Literary Science, Linguistics, Journalism, Media Studies or comparable
• Very good language feeling and joy in precise formulation
• Safe handling of spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Good eye for details and linguistic nuances
• Careful, reliable, and self-responsible working style
• Interest in books, non-fiction topics, and publishing processes
• Internship duration: at least 3 months, ideally 5-6 months
