In partnership with our community, Environment Southland (Southland Regional Council) is responsible for the sustainable management of Southland's natural resources - our land, our water, our air and our coast. As a Regional Council we operate across a large geographical region which extends from Stewart Island to Fiordland. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Regulatory & Consents Coordinator . Emphasis is on: Building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders, including iwi, hapū, community groups, and other key partners. This role will be responsible for coordinating the consenting process for various projects and activities within our region, ensuring that all necessary approvals are obtained in a timely manner. Key responsibilities include: • Coordinating the consenting process for various projects and activities, including obtaining necessary approvals from Environment Southland's regulatory team. • Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including iwi, hapū, community groups, and other key partners. • Providing information and guidance to applicants on the consenting process and requirements. • Ensuring that all necessary approvals are obtained in a timely manner. • Maintaining accurate records of consents and approvals. • Providing support to Environment Southland's regulatory team as required. The ideal candidate will have: • A degree in environmental science, planning, or a related field. • At least 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within the local government sector. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Familiarity with Environment Southland's policies and procedures would be an advantage.
