Tasmanian-based relocation opportunities with well-established and regarded Older Persons Mental Health Units.
  • Registered Nurse role
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist role
Our client's Older Persons Mental Health Units (OPMH) provide compassionate, recovery‑oriented care for adults aged 65 and older who are experiencing complex mental health presentations, cognitive impairment and comorbidities. They deliver evidence‑based interventions across acute, subacute and transitional care, working with families, carers, community services and primary care to support safe discharge and ongoing continuity of care.

Registered Nurse (RN)
Provision of safe, high‑quality, person‑centred nursing care to older adults with mental health needs and cognitive impairment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete comprehensive and focused nursing assessments including mental state, risk and cognition.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate person‑centred nursing care.
  • Administer medications and monitor physical health.
  • Provide therapeutic engagement, de‑escalation and behavioural support using least‑restrictive principles.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to multidisciplinary care and discharge planning.
  • Support onboarding of new staff and participate in quality activities.
Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
Provide advanced clinical expertise, coordinate complex care and mentor nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex clinical assessments and care planning.
  • Coordinate behavioural support plans and clinical pathways.
  • Act as a clinical resource for staff and provide bedside coaching.
  • Lead or contribute to quality improvement and audit activities.
  • Facilitate case discussions and support discharge planning.
  • Participate in incident reviews and governance processes.
Essential Requirements (All Roles)
  • Current AHPRA nursing registration.
  • Compliance with immunisation and mandatory screening requirements.
  • Experience using electronic medical records and understanding of clinical documentation standards.
  • Full Australian Working Rights.
Desirable:
  • Postgraduate qualifications in mental health, gerontology, dementia care or leadership.
  • Experience in sensory modulation, trauma‑informed care and least‑restrictive practices.
  • Credentialing in cognitive or delirium assessment tools.
  • Experience in inpatient, community or residential aged care mental health services.
