Job description

Introductory Text

Have you (almost) completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree or completed training at the Royal Military Academy? And do you have experience with planning, coordinating, and executing (military) operations and are you familiar with civilian crisis organizations? As a reservist, you can be the link between Defense and civilian emergency services and agencies through your civilian expertise and experience!

The Army is looking for a reservist for the National Deployment Section of 13 Light Brigade. Experience within Defense and/or a safety region is a plus, but it is most important that you are aware of the capabilities and limitations of the defense organization (or are able to quickly acquire this knowledge).

Applying is possible from 02-06-2025 to 27-06-2025.

Note: this vacancy is only open to re-entrants! If you have not previously served as a military member, you unfortunately cannot apply.

This is what you will do

As a Regional Military Operational Advisor (RMOA) in the Army, you will work in the National Deployment Section. Within the safety region, you will be involved in preparing, advising, and coordinating military assistance and support to civilian partners in the region. You will be part of the civilian crisis management organization, maintain a relevant civilian network at various levels, and collaborate with, among others, the police, fire department, GHOR (medical emergency services organization), and local government.

As an RMOA, it is important that you are communicative, presentable, diplomatic, stress-resistant, flexible, and self-reliant. Being able to work well together and being proficient with digital communication tools is also important. The extent to which you are actually deployed can vary greatly as a reservist. This depends on your availability and the demand from civilian partners. Partly structural and plannable, but also partly ad-hoc and less plannable.

In terms of plannable availability, we require approximately 180 hours per year for Training and Education purposes. These mainly take place on weekday evenings and during weekend days. The additional burden comes in the form of actual deployment, which is partly plannable but also partly established through mutual consultation. This therefore requires flexibility from you, your potential employer, and your private situation.

PLUS POINTS OF THIS FUNCTION

  • Meaning: you will have the opportunity to be actively involved in crisis and disaster management in the Netherlands, thereby contributing to the safety of society.
  • Work atmosphere: nowhere will you find such a close-knit and motivated team of colleagues as at Defense.
  • Challenge: not only in terms of content, but also due to your unique work environment and your development opportunities.

Note: as a reservist, you will receive a zero-hour contract. We do not make agreements about the number of hours you will be deployed, as deployment in disasters and crises cannot be planned.

This is where you will work

You will be administratively assigned to the National Deployment Section of 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot. The National Deployment Section is part of the brigade staff. The work area extends across the safety regions in the south of the country. Within the safety regions, Municipalities, Fire Department, Medical Emergency Services Organizations (GHOR), Police, and Defense collaborate in case of crisis situations and emergencies. You will specifically work in the Midden- en West-Brabant region, with reporting location Breda. But before you start working fully, you will undergo a number of (military) training courses that depend on your experience.

Note: you must meet the military appointment requirements and undergo a psychological assessment, medical examination, and security check. Given the length of the assessment and appointment process, we expect to fill the vacancy in the autumn of 2024.
