Job description

It's 10:30 AM, and you've already spoken with several candidates who are eager to become bus drivers, tram drivers, or metro drivers. Some have years of experience in customer contact, while others are making a career switch. In a short time, you discover who is ready for the next step, answer questions, and ensure that suitable candidates can proceed in the process.

Every week, dozens of people take the first step towards a career as a driver at GVB. As a Transport Recruiter, you are often one of the first people they speak to. You guide large numbers of candidates through the initial phases of their application process, maintain an overview of progress, and prevent suitable candidates from dropping out unnecessarily. In doing so, you play an important role in the inflow of new drivers.

What you will do

Recruitment for our transport functions is about volume, speed, and people. Every week, large numbers of candidates apply for a job as a bus driver, tram driver, or metro driver. You are often one of the first people they speak to on behalf of GVB, playing an important role at the beginning of their journey.

Your day is dedicated to contact. The phone rings, a new candidate registers, and you immediately engage in conversation. You get acquainted, ask targeted questions, and assess whether candidates are ready for the next step. Simultaneously, you monitor the progress of multiple candidates at once and ensure that people remain engaged throughout their application process.

In your work, you are not so much looking for a perfect CV, job titles, and diplomas, but rather focusing on the skills, experiences, and behaviors that are important for success in the role. You screen and assess based on pre-defined criteria, ensuring everyone is evaluated in the same way.

Meanwhile, you maintain an overview. You conduct many interviews back-to-back, switch effortlessly between candidates, and ensure everyone knows where they stand. Every day, you help people take a step closer to a new career at GVB. The unique aspect of this role is the combination of personal attention and high volume. You guide many candidates simultaneously while ensuring that people feel seen, well-informed, and engaged. It is precisely this balance that makes someone successful in this role.

Your tasks include, among other things:

  • Conducting many telephone or WhatsApp intakes with candidates who have applied for a transport position;
  • Screening and objectively assessing candidates based on agreed-upon criteria;
  • Providing candidates with information about the role, training, and next steps, and helping them take the next step with confidence;
  • Actively guiding and encouraging candidates to take further steps in the process;
  • Meticulously tracking progress, appointments, and candidate files;
  • Quickly responding when candidates have questions or when something seems to be stalling;
  • Identifying candidates who are dropping out or experiencing delays, discussing causes, and contributing to solutions;
  • Close collaboration with your colleagues in the recruitment team and other colleagues in the inflow chain;
  • Actively providing feedback from candidate conversations to the team, discussing opportunities for improvement, and suggesting ideas to enhance the candidate journey and inflow chain.

What you bring

You maintain overview and control when many candidates are moving through the process simultaneously
You know how to keep an overview of multiple ongoing tasks, set priorities, and ensure actions are followed up. This keeps candidates moving and prevents unnecessary delays or dropouts.

You combine personal attention with speed
You understand that candidates are making an important choice and ensure they know where they stand. At the same time, you do not lose sight of the process progress. You can combine personal guidance with an efficient way of working.

You take responsibility for progress
When something seems to be stalling, you don't wait. You follow up on actions, keep a finger on the pulse, and ensure candidates and colleagues know the next step. You feel responsible for a good candidate journey and don't leave things undone unnecessarily.

You communicate in a way that helps people move forward
You can convey information clearly and accessibly. You guide candidates, keep them engaged during the process, and help people take subsequent steps. In collaboration with colleagues, you also ensure clear expectations and good alignment.

You identify opportunities for improvement and discuss them
Because you have a lot of contact with candidates and work in operations daily, you are often the first to see where questions, delays, or bottlenecks arise. You don't wait until someone asks about it. You identify opportunities for improvement, discuss recurring bottlenecks, and actively come up with ideas to improve the candidate journey or process.

Nice to have
Recruitment experience helps, but is not decisive. More important to us is that you can maintain an overview, guide people, take responsibility for progress, and see opportunities to do things better. This experience can come from various contexts, such as work, study, volunteering, associations, or projects.

What you can count on

You take good care of our travelers, so we take good care of you. At GVB, you will receive:

  • A salary of at least €3,553 and a maximum of €5,081 gross per week based on 36 hours (scale 9), depending on your knowledge and experience. If you switch internally, your employment conditions will be adjusted according to the GVB collective labor agreement.
  • Because we want to reach our target group as effectively as possible, we work partly outside regular office hours. This means you will work one late shift per week and one Saturday shift every four weeks. You will receive time off at another moment and financial compensation for this.
  • A 13th month's salary, 8% holiday pay, a 1.5% sustainable employability allowance, and a good pension via ABP.
  • Free unlimited travel on GVB public transport and affordable travel for the whole family.
  • An average of 21 days off per year (depending on age), with the option to purchase additional days.
  • A monthly contribution towards your health insurance of €84.91.
  • Various training and career development opportunities.

Your team

You will be working in the new GVB Transport Recruitment team, a specialized team within the Recruitment Center that focuses entirely on the inflow of bus drivers, tram drivers, and metro drivers. Recruitment activities that were previously outsourced will now be handled internally. This allows us not only to build a new team but also to jointly develop a new recruitment approach for the Transport field, with collaboration, objective selection, and continuous improvement at its core. This also includes looking at the best working hours in consultation.

Collaboration is central. As a Recruiter A, you will work very closely with the other recruiters in the transport team and the Team Lead. Recruiters A are the candidate directors of the team. They guide candidates through their journey, monitor progress, and help prevent suitable candidates from dropping out unnecessarily. Through daily contact with candidates, they are also often the first to identify recurring questions, dropouts, and areas for process improvement. Recruiters B carry out further selection, advise operations, and maintain oversight of the broader inflow funnel.

As the team is new, you will have ample opportunity to contribute to its development. Together, you will develop working methods, experiment with new ideas, and actively propose improvements. In this way, you will not only contribute to the inflow of new drivers but also to the further development of transport recruitment within GVB.

Although you will work daily within the transport team, you are also part of the GVB Recruitment Center. This allows you to share knowledge with recruiters from other teams and utilize the expertise available within recruitment.
