R&D Engineer

At TOMRA Food, our Systems & Sensors Team are responsible for the development of illumination, optical-imaging, and classification technologies. We integrate these innovations with mechanical and software components to enhance TOMRA’s cutting-edge sorting platforms. Join us as a Systems Engineer in our office in Leuven, in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment that values creativity and technical excellence.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Support the research and development of optical systems and sensor technologies for our sorting machines.
• Assist with the design, test and validation prototypes.
• Help collect and analyse data, build test setups, and document your findings.
• Work together with the team to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
• Collaborate closely with R&D engineers across diverse disciplines.
• Work cross-functionally to deliver solutions that meet customer needs.

Every day brings new challenges as you work across diverse technical fields, including optics, automation, spectroscopy, multivariate data analysis, and machine learning.

You'll gain hands-on experience and contribute to a both short-term and long-term R&D projects.
