Quantity Surveyor (PQS)

A great opportunity exists for an experienced Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) to join a respected construction consultancy delivering projects across the Wellington region and throughout New Zealand. This full-time position offers exposure to a wide variety of work in the health, education, commercial, civic, and infrastructure sectors.

As part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you'll provide commercial insight and cost management expertise throughout all stages of the project life cycle — from feasibility and cost planning through to procurement, contract administration, reporting and close-out. You'll help clients make informed decisions, manage financial risk, and deliver projects with confidence.

What you'll do

• Prepare and manage cost plans, feasibility estimates, and construction budgets
• Support tendering and procurement processes, including tender analysis and reporting
• Assist with contract documentation (NZS 3910 and other forms)
• Assess progress claims, variations, and prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts
• Contribute to risk management, value engineering, and cost control initiatives
• Work closely with clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure clarity and accountability

What you'll bring

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar
• 5+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor (consultancy or contractor background)
• Familiarity with NZS 3910 contracts and strong commercial awareness
• Proficiency in CostX and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication skills and a practical understanding of how projects are built
• A proactive, team-focused approach with attention to detail and integrity
