Quantity Surveyor

Job description

Overview:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the construction industry by managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labor costs.
  • Assess and review designs to identify potential cost-saving measures.
  • Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies.
  • Manage costs during construction, as well as any variations in the design and contract.
  • Value completed work and arrange payments to contractors.
  • Prepare valuations and cost reports for the project team and clients.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.
  • Stay updated on building regulations and legislation.
  • Attend regular site meetings to monitor progress and resolve any issues.
  • Work closely with other professionals, including engineers, architects, and project managers.
  • Implement cost control procedures, monitoring and reporting on the financial health of the project.
  • Keep detailed records and manage change control procedures.
  • Contribute to risk management and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional certification
  • Proven experience in quantity surveying and cost estimation.
  • Strong familiarity with construction contracts and procurement processes.
  • Excellent numerical and IT skills, including proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and diagrams.
  • Sound understanding of construction methods and materials.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Expertise in project management software and tools.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
