Quality Engineering Lead (m/f/d)

As Quality Engineering Lead, you will lead and develop a team of Quality Engineers and contribute to improving the reliability of Shopware's commerce platform. You will combine people management with hands-on work in testing and automation. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to identify risks early and continuously improve the development and release of our software.

You will translate company goals and product priorities into a Quality Engineering roadmap with clear and measurable improvement targets. You will set priorities, delegate tasks, and directly tackle complex testing challenges.

• Lead, support, and develop the team through regular feedback, performance reviews, and individual career development. Also, assist with hiring and onboarding.

• Define the test strategy and quality standards for product teams together with engineering colleagues. Prioritize and distribute Quality Engineering tasks according to product risks, roadmap goals, and team capacities.

• Actively participate in test design, test automation, and exploratory testing. Assist in analyzing complex bugs and validating changes affecting multiple product areas.

• Support Quality Engineers, Developers, and Product Managers across teams in implementing the test strategy and ensuring quality is considered early in planning and development.

• Improve test tools and practices, including the responsible use of AI-assisted testing. Identify areas for improvement using customer issues, bugs, and test reliability.

• Support product releases by communicating test results, remaining risks, and a clear quality recommendation to the colleagues coordinating the release.

What you bring with you:

• Experience in leading a technical team, including coaching, performance reviews, and individual development.

• Hands-on experience in software testing, developing test strategies, and test automation, including approaches like end-to-end, API, integration, or component testing.

• Experience in defining and presenting quality metrics, and using them along with test results and risk assessments to identify gaps and support decisions.

• The ability to set priorities, delegate tasks, and collaborate effectively with colleagues from Engineering and Product.

• Very good written and spoken English skills, as well as the ability to explain technical matters and trade-offs understandably. German language skills are not required.

Helpful, but not mandatory

Experience in e-commerce, with open-source software, cloud applications, upgrades and migrations, as well as with AI-assisted development and test automation is a plus. Prior knowledge of Shopware is not required.
