Job Title: Qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter - Ad-hoc / Flexible working pattern Location: Beverley, East Yorkshire Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract Schedule: Ad-hoc / Flexible working pattern About the Role We are seeking professional and qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreters to support inclusive communication across a range of services. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced interpreters who are passionate about accessibility and keen to provide high-quality interpreting services to individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The successful candidate will be required to work on an ad-hoc basis, providing interpreting services as needed, and will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of our services. Key Responsibilities: • Provide high-quality interpreting services to individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring that communication is accurate, timely, and culturally sensitive. • Work on an ad-hoc basis, providing interpreting services as needed, and be flexible to meet the needs of our services. • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the services we provide, including the needs and preferences of our Deaf and hard of hearing clients. • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure that interpreting services are integrated into our services and that communication is effective and inclusive. • Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments, including details of the services provided and any issues or concerns that arose during the assignment. • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to maintain and improve interpreting skills and knowledge. • Contribute to the development of interpreting services and policies, and participate in quality assurance processes to ensure that services are of the highest standard. Requirements: • Be a qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter with a strong understanding of the language and its cultural context. • Have experience of working with Deaf or hard of hearing individuals, and be familiar with the needs and preferences of this client group. • Be able to work on an ad-hoc basis, providing interpreting services as needed, and be flexible to meet the needs of our services. • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. • Be able to maintain accurate records and participate in quality assurance processes. • Be willing to participate in ongoing professional development and training to maintain and improve interpreting skills and knowledge.
