About this opportunity

At Pact, you're not just taking a job – you're joining a team where your contribution matters and your presence makes a difference. Here, people back each other, celebrate wins together, and grow together… with genuine support. We believe that true belonging comes from shared purpose, mutual respect, and a culture where you can bring your true self to work. If you're looking for a place where connection counts and camaraderie is everything, you’ll find it here.

We’re seeking a proactive QSE Manager to lead site-level Quality, Safety, and Environmental initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Business Unit Manager, you’ll drive compliance, continuous improvement, and sustainability across Dunedin operations. This role involves leading audits, managing contractor safety, enhancing our QMS, and championing food safety and environmental programs. You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure operational excellence and regulatory alignment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead and coordinate site Health & Safety audits, ensuring thorough preparation and timely resolution of findings.
  • Manage H&S Systems including risks, hazards, incidents and injuries
  • Manage contractor safety, including induction and compliance monitoring.
  • Maintain and enhance our Quality Management System (QMS) to meet and exceed certification standards (FSSC22000 – Quality Management System).
  • Champion food safety, chairing the Food Safety Team and leading internal/external audits.
  • Investigate and resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive quality performance by developing robust reporting systems and refining quality control processes.
  • Promote environmental sustainability, implementing the Pact Safe programme and supporting our sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop SOPs and process documentation that support safety and operational excellence.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, ideally with a blend of quality and health & safety expertise.
  • HACCP certification and solid knowledge of GFSI Quality Standards.
  • Familiarity with NZ legal systems, regulatory bodies (e.g., WorkSafe, FSANZ), and relevant legislation.
  • Strong skills in hazard identification, risk management, and incident investigation.
  • Proven leadership experience with a people-first approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
